Mossman Gorge Entrance Fee, Shuttle and Opening Hours

The Mossman Gorge entrance fee question starts with separating public park access, the Centre shuttle and guided experiences with their own inclusions.

  • Rainforest walks explained
  • Cultural visits compared
  • Shuttle and access guidance

Understanding the Mossman Gorge entrance fee

The Mossman Gorge entrance fee is easier to understand when you separate the public natural area from the bus journey and any guided activity. QPWS describes pedestrian and cycle access as free, with the shuttle charged separately. For a practical arrival, head to the Cultural Centre and use the Gorge shuttle rather than planning a walk through the residential community. Follow the access arrangements explained at the Centre.

The Centre is the arrival point with visitor information, a café, gallery, shop and parking. The inner day-use area is a different place, reached by the shuttle. Keep those locations separate when arranging a taxi, a meeting point or your return journey. This independent guide is not the Centre or the park authority.

The information here is prepared as of 3 November 2026. Use the current fare displayed at the Centre for your travel day and note the last return departure before setting out. For the road journey, see getting to Mossman Gorge; for the paths, use the walking guide.

The shuttle journey and its ticket

The shuttle connects the Centre with the Gorge day-use area. The published service interval is 15 minutes, and the ticket permits repeat journeys on the purchase day. Treat that day validity as a bus-ticket condition, rather than the length of a tour or permission to join a cultural walk. Plan your return around the operating service, including time to get back from your chosen track.

Before leaving the Centre, establish the current fare for your party and the last return bus. A sensible visit plan fits your walk inside that transport window. Keep the road transfer back to your accommodation separate: the Gorge bus serves the local link, while a hotel pickup or onward taxi is another part of the day. If you are arriving late, make the return arrangement your first question rather than starting a longer walk.

An eBike outing that includes the Gorge shuttle

The eBike combination includes an eBike with helmet, locks, basket and GPS navigation, the Mossman Gorge shuttle bus, a shuttle to Cooya Beach and collection from the Chocolate Farm. A chocolate tasting plate and a winery tasting are also included. Its stated meeting point is the bike shop just behind the Coles shopping centre. It is a wider cycling and tasting outing, rather than a stand-alone Gorge bus ticket.

Choose that combination if cycling and the other stops are part of your intended day. If your interest is simply the rainforest paths, organise the Centre arrival and local shuttle around your walk. For days with transport and guiding together, the tour comparison covers different visit formats. Product inclusions belong to the particular experience; they should not be treated as the contents of every bus ticket.

Opening hours: natural area and visitor services

The day-use area is generally open 24 hours, subject to park warnings and closures. This describes the natural area, not continuous operation of the Centre, shuttle or café. Plan a visit that works with the visitor services you need, especially if your journey depends on the bus. A park opening statement alone is not a return-transport plan.

Use the latest local notices for service times and allow room for changes caused by weather or track work. Read the route signs before choosing a walk. A service operating at the Centre does not by itself mean that every track is accessible, and a partial track closure does not mean that the whole natural area has closed.

Accessible facilities and choosing a walk

The Centre and shuttle are wheelchair accessible, as are the day-use area, toilets and Baral Marrjanga boardwalk. Assistance may be needed in the day-use area. Lower river track is not wheelchair accessible and can be slippery. Choose the boardwalk if that accessible surface is central to your visit, and discuss any practical boarding needs when you arrive.

Public paths and guided Ngadiku cultural walks serve different purposes. The cultural walks follow private paths to places of cultural significance and require advance booking; those paths are not an independent extension of the public circuit. Read the cultural walking guide before deciding which experience you want. Respect Eastern Kuku Yalanji Country, remain on public marked routes and keep the residential community out of a shortcut itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Is the shuttle ticket a guided cultural walk?

The shuttle provides the local bus journey. A guided cultural walk is a separate experience with its own booking and access to private paths.

Can I use a shuttle ticket on another day?

The published repeat-journey validity is limited to the purchase day. Plan the local return ride within that day’s service.

Does 24-hour access mean an overnight bus service?

The general day-use opening statement does not give shuttle or Centre opening hours. Use the service times displayed locally for the day of your visit.
